In the news this week was word that Baylor University’s alumni group is breaking its longstanding tradition of their annual trip to SeaWorld Texas. Instead the group will be holding their summer event at Six Flags.
According to a report in the Orlando Sentinel and the University’s student newspaper, The Baylor Lariat, Smith Getterman, assistant director of sustainability and special projects at Baylor, cited Blackfish as the reason.
Its a real shame that a group of educated people and Christians fall victim to radical activist’s propaganda.
SeaWorld’s spokesman Fred Jacobs had this to say to the Sentinel:
Dozens of groups book events at SeaWorld parks every week and each gets to experience firsthand the standard of care that makes SeaWorld one of the world’s most respected zoological institutions. It’s disappointing that the Baylor alumni organization would have been influenced by Blackfish and other animal rights propaganda. Had they asked us, we would have welcomed the opportunity to answer their concerns over allegations made by groups like PETA.”
What’s even more disappointing is that the largest Baptist university in the world would allow itself to be co-opted by secular groups like PETA and their offensively named Jesus People of Animals arm.
Baylor Alumni should really use the critical thinking skills they learned at their university and get the facts about SeaWorld and get the facts about how radical groups, like PETA, hijack Christianity to push their agenda.
Here’s some examples.

We hope Baylor alumni, and Mr. Getterman, enjoy their time together this summer. Maybe they will have a healthy discussion about how they have fallen victim to campaign from radical activist who have total contempt for Christianity.
